Having read the article by David DelGrande in Wednesday’s Green Valley News I felt that a clarification might be in order (“Recording dispute ends GVR session,” Page A14, Sept. 12).
Mr. John Haggerty’s concern that my and the Green Valley News recording was a “set-up for misinformation” is misplaced and greatly inflates any influence the recordings might have under normal circumstances. I have been recording committee meetings since I began attending on a regular basis earlier this year, and yes, it was out of interest in how the newly elected Board of Directors would approach the job of governing GVR and what changes might be proposed and put in place, the groundwork for the board is done at the committee level. After Tuesday’s meeting, it appears my concerns may be well-founded.
So far as Green Valley News attending and recording, I have seen reporter David Del Grande at a couple of other meeting and in fact we were both asked to sit at the table with the committee at the previous Board Affairs Committee meeting. Mr. Haggerty may have any number of reasons to be concerned about a meeting being recorded by either the GVR general membership or the Green Valley News, however it was his actions at the meeting Tuesday that provided any cause for interest in this meeting by the public.
