I heard a comment yesterday in regard to the Nike controversy over the Betsy Ross flag shoe. The issue of slavery, in common with several founders of this nation, is a “birth defect”... whether considered major or minor.
Think about it. Are we to consider every person born with a birth defect as undesirable and to be avoided and shunned? Of course not. Some have overcome that defect and achieved greatness.
If we have to destroy every blot on the history of this great country, how will our ancestors ever know the value or learn of the effort and courage that can correct those wrongs?
