Louise Emily Hogan, age 83, passed away peacefully in her home April 9, 2019. Louise was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on May 19, 1935 to Edmond and Ruth (Neal) Moldt. After high school and nursing school, she married Donald Francis Hogan on May 18, 1958 and became a Navy wife, living up and down the East coast while Donald was out to sea.
Later, when Donald retired from the Navy, he began working for Smithsonian, bringing the family to Florida; Shiraz, Iran for 2 years; New Mexico and lastly Arizona, where she settled into being a school nurse at Sopori Elementary School. She made many lasting friends there and thoroughly loved the kids. Her other interests were reading, knitting, music, cats and hummingbirds. She kept up on politics, news and entertainment and enjoyed a good debate with her children and grandkids.
She instilled the love of holidays and decorating in all of us and taught the sentiments of good ol' handwritten notes. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember the holiday cards she sent with a piece of Spearmint gum in it.
For 52 years she lived in Arizona but longed for the sound and smell of the Atlantic Ocean, the taste of a lobster smothered in butter, and the magnificent changing of colors in the Fall.
Louise is survived by her 2 children Kathleen (Norman) Harris, Leslie (John) Langdon, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and her cousin Richard Neal in Maine. Preceded in death are her son David M. Hogan and husband Donald F. Hogan of 49 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 19, at McGee Ranch Community Building at 1 p.m.
