Joyce Marie Hartranft (Monahan) was born April 9, 1940, in Orange, California, to Carl Monahan and Gertrude (McCluskey).
She grew up on the shore of Newport and Balboa Beach and visited there as often as she could throughout her life. Joyce met and married the love of her life, James Hartranft, in San Diego while attending school to become an x-ray technician.
They raised five girls together, making a home in Fallbrook and Orange, California. After the girls were grown, they built their retirement home in Roseburg, Oregon. It was not to be their final home as they adopted two of their grandchildren after the death of their daughter Libby, and moved to Colville, Washington.
Because of Jim’s failing health, they moved to Green Valley, Arizona, in 2012. It was here that Joyce found comfort and purpose with the community of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. After a long journey with vascular dementia, Joyce joined her husband in heaven on April 16, 2019.
Joyce is survived by her daughters Carolyn Bryant, Jeanie Hartranft, Cheryl Fitzpatrick and Wendy Hartranft; her sisters Carol Sharon and Mary Stone; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held in Colville, Washington, with internment next to her husband in Deer Park, Washington.
