Jerome James Beckham was born on June 28, 1932 in Gary, Indiana to Patrick and Clara Beckham. Jerry held many jobs throughout his life but the two he talked about the most were being a cop and a bar owner. He was a police officer in the Gary Police Department from 1963 to 1983 where he retired as a Detective. After he retired and moved to Arizona, he bought a bar in Arivaca, AZ called the La Gitana, which he ran for another 20 years. He had many stories from both experiences.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary K. Beckham, his son David (Tangye) Beckham of Arivaca, AZ, and daughter Lisa (Alan) of Henderson, NV. Jerry had 8 grandchildren (David Jr., Tyler, Trevor, Victiano, Brenden, Stephen, Dillon and Collen) and 3 great-grandchildren (Jonas, Nathalie, and Gracie). He is also survived by his sister Regina Holden of Green Valley and Bernard Beckham of Valparaiso, IN. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary George, his brother Patrick Beckham and his parents.
Jerry was one of the finest men ever to walk this earth. He spent an hour a day praying for everyone he knew and even for those he didn’t know. Jerry was a man of high moral standards and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
