Surrounded by his loved ones, Gil LeClair, 92, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2019 at his home in Green Valley, AZ after a long illness. Born February 1927 in Bethel, Maine, Gil was preceded in death by his parents Syl and Daisy LeClair, and son-in-law Gary Hultman (Judith). He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years Carol LeClair, daughter Judith LeClair both of Green Valley, AZ, daughter Susan (Chuck) Hollingsworth of Oro Valley, AZ, and granddaughter Brooke (Matthew) Daniels and three great-grandchildren of Massachusetts.
Gil graduated from Gould Academy, Bethel, ME and after serving in the U.S. Navy, the University of Maine. His successful engineering career spanned 35 years with a division of General Motors which moved him from several east coast locations to Scottsdale, AZ in the early 1960s, and finally to Milwaukee, WI in the 1970s.
Gil loved jazz, reading, and was an active church member wherever he lived, as an elder, usher, and in various other volunteer roles. Retirement in the mid-1990s brought him back to Arizona where he enjoyed many years of golf at courses throughout southern AZ, serving his neighborhood association, and pursuing his interest in the southwest desert and native cultures.
A celebration of Gil’s life will be held June 4, 2019, at 1 p.m., at Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley, AZ. Donations in memory of Gilbert LeClair may be made to the charity of your choice.
