GVR board member Don Weaver resigned effective immediately at the group’s monthly meeting Aug. 25, and said he is moving to Tennessee.
Weaver was elected to the 12-member Green Valley Recreation board in 2019.
Weaver, originally from North Carolina, and wife, Dee, moved here from Pennsylvania in the early 2000s. With a management degree, he served as a volunteer for several local organizations, including as president of the Green Valley Council, GVC Foundation, chair of the Advisory Committee for Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital, and on the Community Water Company board.
Matters during his tenure have included road repair, addition of cell towers, traffic roundabout debate, buffelgrass removal, keeping Green Valley clean and free of potentially harmful waste, and marketing the region as a retirement area.
GVR membership was notified of Weaver’s pending departure via email Friday. Per GVR bylaw, Connie Griffin has agreed to serve out his term, which ends in 2022. She has served on several GVR board committees and on the GVR Foundation board.
