Shura Wallin, second from left, a border activist and co-founder of the Green Valley-Sahuarita Samaritans, received the Shelley Davis Humanitarian Award last week in Los Angeles for her leadership in the fight to secure border relief to immigrants and reconnecting families of those who have perished crossing the border. Singer Linda Ronstadt presented the award via video. The award was given by the Farmworker Justice, a nonprofit that works with migrant and seasonal farmworkers to improve living and working conditions, immigration status, health, occupational safety and access to justice.
