The Third Annual Mitzvah Good Deeds Day on Friday saw more than 100 volunteers of all faiths coming together to work on 25 projects throughought the community, committee member Marcia Wiener said.
For the first time, more than 50 students from Walden Grove and Sahuarita High Schools participated by collecting food for the Nogales Mission. The Sahuarita students also made more than 200 cookies for the mission.
“They were great,” Wiener said. “They were committed to the project. They had a mission and they were successful. We’re very proud of our students.”
The various groups of volunteers didn’t know each other, but they came together to break bread, work hard and testify about their deeds, Wiener said.
“It was a very good day. A lot of good deeds were done and as we walked out, we all said, ‘We’ll see you next year.’ This is something that should and will continue,” Wiener said
