BusinessNew coffee shop opens in Amado
By Ellen Sussman, Special to the Green Valley NewsFollowing three years working for Starbucks at two local Safeway stores, Gayle Davis has decided to express herself by opening a coffee shop in Amado creatively called “Espress Yourself.” Located off Exit 48 at the Amado Mini Plaza near Cow Palace and behind the Amado Market, Davis said she chose the location because it’s close to home and she knows everyone in the community. Even in a down economy, she said people still want coffee. Flavorful vanilla, hazelnut, cinnamon, caramel and raspberry syrups can be added to coffees, and vanilla and hazelnut are also available sugar-free. Among the temptations on the coffee menu are Mocha Magic, which is hot espresso with chocolate, White Mocha Magic espresso made with white chocolate, caramel apple cider and cappuccino. Davis said she expressed herself when choosing the colors for the shop’s d/cor. “I wanted chocolate and coffee colors and added aqua accents for contrast. “More than coffee and espressos, I have tea and iced tea, bottled soft drinks, chocolate and vanilla soft serve and milkshakes and a changing selection of bagels and cream cheese, muffins, pastries and cookies.” A dark chocolate muffin was tempting and a generous size. The shop opened this month, and current hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Contact Green Valley freelance reporter Ellen Sussman at ellen2414@cox.net.
