Behind-the-wheel test

Published: Saturday, November 21, 2009 3:31 PM MST

Editor:

I felt I needed to give my own editorial opinion on the article on the front page of the Sunday, Nov. 15 paper, Roundabout confusion.

I am not an advocate of taking away driver’s licenses from people over a certain age, but I bet the women who did not know how to maneuver through the new roundabout at Continental and Camino del Sol knew how hard it was to feed their families during the Depression.

If these people cannot understand what a one-way sign means, they should take a behind-the-wheel driver’s test every six months to a year and it should be a tough one. No pass, no license.

Who decided the solution is to spend money on new signs which “will be more in line with drivers’ eye levels”?

How far over the steering wheel are these people’s eyes? What else can’t these people see?

I don’t want to have to worry about it every time I drive here in Green Valley.
