Art at the Ranch: Show premieres at Amado Territory Ranch

A new show for art and craft enthusiasts has been added to the lineup for the busy fall/winter season: Nov. 28 at the Amado Territory Ranch.

The boutique-style show will feature 20 to 30 vendors.

“Art at the Ranch” is being organized by artist Michael Arthur Jayme, who has a studio at the Ranch. Using oil paint, it’s where he creates large landscapes and cloudscapes using his favorite artist’s tool, the palette knife.

As eloquent with words as he is with the palette knife, Jayme says, “My work speaks for the experience of the moment and my creativity is unacquainted with limits. The earth and sky give me what I need. I paint the mountain as I know it. Energy takes over and enables me to bend and curve that stubborn line.”

Jayme said there will be everything from fine ceramics to fiber arts, fine crafts and jewelry, gourd art and masks, hand-painted silk scarves and Zuni fetish carvings by Native American Marvin Pinto.

“This will be a very special and high energy show as November is national Native American month,” he said.

Among the artists exhibiting with Jayme are Linda Crawford, Del Marinello, Russell Mott, CJ Shane, Lynn Spooner and M. Brusa Zappelini.

Marinello’s vivid abstracts and collages show her love of color and creativity. She has traveled to about 100 countries and said no place has inspired her artistically as much as the Southern Arizona desert.

Spooner, who works with oils and fluid watercolor, loves painting floral close-ups and local scenic spots including Honeybee Canyon in Tucson.

Complementing the art and fine crafts will be music by Native American flutist R. Carlos Nakai and the Larry Redhouse Jazz Trio.

Plate lunches will be offered for sale by Kristofer’s and Stockman’s Grill.

With art, music and food available on the premises, plan to spend the day shopping and enjoying the work of the varied artisans, musicians and local restaurateurs.
