Eclipz more than just a hair salon

As Amy Smith tells it, her dream as an experienced hair stylist was to own her own hair salon by the time she was 30.

Now Smith has achieved her goal with Eclipz Hair Studio, whose graphic image of a stylized Southwestern sun reflects the name she selected for the salon.

Eclipz has been in operation since March. However, with the holiday season approaching and, says Smith, “our new awning finally installed,” the studio’s official Grand Opening and Holiday Open House will be held this Nov. 20, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and there will be free drawings for gift bags and gift certificates.

In addition to basic “clipping,” Smith says she and her team of stylists provide a full range of beauty services for clients, including styling, color, tints, highlights, perms, facial waxing, manicures (including acrylic and gel nails), and pedicures.

Smith is also quick to point out that her clientele includes men as well as women, noting that her line of products includes color treatments designed especially to create a natural look for men. Plus, one of her staff is a trained barber.

Eclipz is on the site of the former Annette’s Hair Design at 86 W. Esperanza (behind the Arizona Family Restaurant) in Green Valley. Smith said the location is ideal because of its familiarity to the former salon’s clientele and its easy access off Esperanza and Interstate 19.

Smith retained the staff of Annette’s Hair Design because the stylists all have a devoted following within the community. As a result, Smith notes, the salon is always heavily booked.

Smith, daughter of local airplane builder Mary Hanson (formerly Sneft), is no newcomer to Green Valley. Originally from Colorado, she came to Green Valley to care for her invalid father. After living here for six years, she decided to make it her permanent home because, “I fell in love with Green Valley and the people here.”

To make an appointment at Eclipz or to obtain additional information, please call the salon at 625-2792.
