NewsOne of the areas largest arts and crafts festivals will take place on Nov. 20-22, the weekend before Thanksgiving. It will be held in the spacious courtyard at the Desert Diamond Casino at Pima Mine Road. Organizer Sharon Good said the show attracts 85 to 90 vendors and that’s what visitors can expect. “This year is special. It’s our 10th anniversary,” Good said. “The range of vendors... well, there’s everything... jewelry, pottery, clothing, metal work, wood work, glasswork, stained glass, Native American crafts, paintings, photography, prints and specialty foods. “And for our 10th anniversary there will be Native American entertainment.” Good said the Desert Diamond Casino is a perfect venue for the arts and crafts festival because of the large open space and the range of restaurants, which includes Agave, the Grill and the Buffet. Among the exhibiting artisans will be Michelle Allan of Sun Dogs Mosaics and Glass Works. Allan’s eye-catching mosaic pottery is artfully handcrafted and colorful. Her bright mosaic flower pots add accents to plants as well as providing colorful accents indoors. Her dichroic, fused-glass jewelry contrasts with subdued tones of clothing and coordinates with bright colors. The Desert Diamond Casino offers ample free parking and valet parking.
