NewsAs part of the mission to keep seniors informed about fraud and scams, Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard’s office is sponsoring a series of four, free one-day Senior Anti-Crime University programs. The program closest to Green Valley will be held Nov. 20 at the Desert Vista Campus of Pima Community College, next to Tucson Spectrum Shopping Center at Irvington Road and Interstate 19. The program helps people learn to detect and avoid frauds, scams and abuse. The one-day program will offer classes in consumer fraud and scams, life-care planning and health care directives, financial exploitation, health care and Medicare fraud, reverse mortgage and mortgage scams, identity theft, elder abuse and neglect, charitable giving and personal and Internet safety. The Anti-Crime University will present information to identify and prevent all manner of schemes and rip-offs. The Senior Anti-Crime University is part of Goddard’s Senior Sleuth project. Partners include AARP, SMP (Empowering Seniors to Prevent Health Care Fraud), Duet: Partners in Health and Aging, and All Arizona School Retirees Association.
