For the past five years Annette Young has operated Annette’s Hair Salon behind the Arizona Family Restaurant where she did haircuts, coloring, perms and eyebrow waxing.

Recently, she moved to a new space at The Retreat, off the Frontage Road at 661 W. Calle Torres Blancas — and her clients have followed her.

She will hold a Halloween Open House from 9 to 1 on Saturday.

“It’s a nicer place for me to work. It’s nicer for my clients, it’s a salon with a stunning view,” Young said.

Joining her is stylist Amelia Berringer, who also provides the same services. Both serve men and women.

Looking out the window as the master colorist cuts, colors and styles, Young’s new view is a scenic spread of the Santa Rita mountains — a delight for the senses for her and her clients — and a far cry from her former view of the door to a restroom.

A special amenity in going to Annette’s Salon at The Retreat is the availability of lunch. A few steps down the corridor there’s a light fare food service area with an array of lunch, snack and soft drink choices.

“I can get lunch here. Clients can get lunch here, or a cup of coffee or tea, dessert or a snack,” Young said.

In addition to the view and availability of nearby food service, Young said she loves her new, light-filled space.

“I love being creative. It’s God’s divine way of having me help make my clients look good. It’s my gift. When my clients are happy, I’m happy.”

All services are by appointment; reach the salon at 399-2792.
