Big brother?

I wonder if I am the only person who finds it rather disturbing that the Green Valley Community Coordinating Council feels it has the right to tell privately owned businesses what to do?

First we have the motel forced to repaint (and do they really think the new color is an improvement? Looks like baby poop to me).

Next we learn they’ve been insisting the Bank of America remove the clock faces on their tower.

No vote was ever taken to see how many residents objected to the color of the motel nor was a vote taken about the clock faces.

Most people didn’t consider either issue terribly important.

The clock faces have been that way for years, everyone knew they were right twice a day and decorations the rest of the time.

Now we have dull and boring circles in their place.

If nothing else, the GVCCC’s timing was abysmal. Both businesses are having to struggle economically right now.

Insisting they make unnecessary cosmetic changes at the worst possible time financially was unfair, to say the least.

Now that the GVCCC has been successful in getting its way twice, one wonders what they’ll take on next that’s none of their business and that they have no right to mess with?

Must be something else they don’t like the looks of.

Maybe Walgreen’s should change their colors? After all, they’ve been the same color for years, must be getting boring by now.

Oh, I know ! The new Super Target in Tucson is painted the same colors as the motel was. Someone tell the GVCCC !

" Barbara,

Your right I hate the color Walgreen uses. I am thinking a light power blue would be perfect. Yes, the GVCCC should look inward and reconnect with it's real mission rather than take part in all of this nonsense. "

Jackie Blomberg wrote on Nov 2, 2009 11:48 PM:

" I must agree with Walter. GVCCC needs to stay with its original mission. It is NOT the local government, Pima County IS. "

Sharon Kempfert wrote on Nov 3, 2009 6:27 AM:

" I agree - I think all businesses should be forced to repaint to some generic, boring color determined by GVCCC. Let's show everyone how dull and boring a retirement community can be. "

Les Shipley wrote on Nov 3, 2009 7:44 AM:

" The real problem is that they got away with it. It seems all that we can do is write letters. We need to put a stop to this kind of needless control. "

Ed Wolf wrote on Nov 3, 2009 9:03 AM:

" I agree with Walter- I also have wondered if the GVCCC and the C of C were legal citizens. Neither group acts as such. "
