Nov. 1

Green Valley Elks Auxiliary will have a wine-tasting for Elks members at their guests from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. Information, Mary Lou Wilson, Cathy Travis.

Rose Show of Green Valley, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., East Social Center, 7 S. Abrego, Rose Society of Green Valley. Annual Rose competition. Entry info at East Center. Public open house with refreshments and entertainment in the afternoon.

Global Arts Gallery 9th Annual Dia de los Muertos/Circle of Life Celebration, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Global Arts Gallery, 315 McKeown Avenue, Patagonia, 85624.

One woman exhibit by Tubac Center of the Arts member George Doubler at the Hilltop Gallery in Nogales starts today and runs through Nov. 30. Opening today is from 1 to 4 p.m. Twenty-seven paintings in watercolor, oil land tempera-ink resist will be in the show. Mrs. Doubler also is a member of the Sahuarita Art Guild and recently completed a mural of the activities of Anamax Park.


Nov. 2

Southwest Garden Club takes a field trip to Green Valley Gardens and Nursery, Sahuarita-Green Valley Nursery and the Arid Garden. Lunch at Grill on the Green. Meet at Green Valley Village by the pottery place at 9:15 a.m. Public welcome. Information: Judith, 207-9256.

Aloha Adult Loss Of Hearing Association, 10 a.m., La Posada Recreation Center. We will have a canine speaker brought to us by Joanie Maunger, CEO of Handi-Dogs. Joanie and her friend will show us how Handi-Dogs help the hard of hearing and other people who could use help as well. Don’t miss this! You will learn something and be entertained too!

Nov. 3.

Nov. 4

Green Valley Forum meets at 10 a.m. at East Center. Retired Maj. Gen. Donald Sheppard, UASF, will present an update on Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Iran and Israel — where we have been and where we are going. All GVR members and their eligible guests welcome.

Michigan Club will have its first catered dinner of the season at West Center. Social hour, 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be a “Guided Virtual Walk through Madera Canyon from Proctor Road to the top of Mount Wrightson.” Presented by Laurens Halsey. Tubac Historical Society has its first meeting of season at 10:30 a.m. at the Tubac Center of the Arts. Program will be on “Frederick Remington and Maynard Dixon: Their Southwestern Connections.” Western art expert Beverly (Penny) David, Ph.D. will give a talk on these two of the West’s greatest artists. The Green Valley Women’s Club will meet at West Center for its first fashion show of the year. Chef Charles will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner with NancyPantz Fashions doing the fashion show. Lynn Hassler, a well-known local author, will be speaking at The Retreat at Santa Rita Springs (661 W. Calle Torres Blancas). 2:30 p.m. Lynn will introduce attendees to our common backyard birds as well as some of the species that visit more remote areas of Madera Canyon. Lynn is a regular contributor to Bird Watchers Digest and author of numerous books on birds. Her books will be available for sale. An RSVP is not required.

Nov. 6

Social Media Workshop hosted by the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce and conducted by Sam Brace of the Caliber Groupo, runs from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the El Dorado Room at La Perla at La Posada, 350 E.
