SportsWith belts tightening everywhere due to the economic climate, youth golf needs help now, more than ever. It’s with that spirit that has participants excited to take part in the 12th Annual Chili Pepper Classic at Torres Blancas Golf Course on Wednesday. “Helping out youth golfers is a real passion of ours,” said publicity chairperson Sandi Campbell. “We take serious pride in it.” The tournament — a joint effort between the Torres Blancas and the Canoa Ranch ladies’ golf clubs — beings with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Anticipation has been so high for this year’s event that the waiting list already stretches dozens deep. Campbell promises that there will be some “fun surprises” on the course, including hole prizes, closest-to-the-pin awards, and a couple she’s keeping a secret until tournament day. The proceeds from this event go to help the Sahuarita golf team, Continental School, and various Tucson-based youth golf programs. nprevenas@gvnews.com | 547-9747
