ColumnsThe Animal League of Green Valley Posy My mom, Geisha, a classic torti lady, was brought to TALGV after her owner had to go into a nursing home. She had just delivered five of my siblings and then one more right after she arrived! The most wonderful thing happened after we’d been here a few days - a lovely volunteer took us to her home where we could grow up surrounded by lots of love and plenty of human contact. Now we’re back at TALGV looking for our own new homes. We were born on July 12 and 13, so we’re about 3 months old and are anxious to strike out on our own. I am a lovable, torti girl with a cream mask on my face, who’d like to bring my special kind of joy to your home! Tuxedo I came to TALGV from “the streets” back in February. It didn’t take long, though, for me to warm up to humans, and in no time I was adopted. Well, I went to a home with a guy who had another cat, and although we tried for four months, we never managed to get along. My dad said that I love to play, but that I was just “too much” for his other cat (but with him, I was as affectionate and outgoing as could be). I’m a striking, classic Tuxedo boy with a captivating, slightly-lopsided black moustache that just adds to my personality. I’m still pretty young, about 13 months old now, and I’d love for you to take me home (where I’ll be the only feline) and spend lots of time telling me that this time is forever. Yodie If they had a “before and after” contest, I think I’d probably win hands down! I was found in an abandoned house way out in the hinterlands by a man who heard some noises coming from the building. When he opened the door, there I was, scratching and almost hairless because of the horrible itching from the mange I had, starving, and dehydrated but still able to wag my tail. There was no food or water in the house, and no one knows how long I had been there. But then I was brought to TALGV! The wonderful people gently washed and dried me, gave me medications to help relieve the itching, and wrapped me in blankets. And the food! What joy! My before picture is hard to look at, but “baby, just look at me now!” I am a small, 6-month-old, tan and black shepherd mix girl, and I am now growing into my happy, puppy stage because I feel so great! My future is bright! Sara Jane My mom has had a bad time with her health. It was terribly hard for her to give me up, but she felt that because I’m such a sweet and loving dog who adores attention, I deserved a home where I would have those things in abundance. I am a striking, 9-year-old, black and tan Rotti mix lady, and I’m as sociable and gentle as can be. Because my crazy, growing up years are behind me, I have all the manners befitting a lady of my age: I’m completely housebroken (I “ask” to go outside), I walk well both on or off a leash and I’m perfectly behaved when I’m alone in the house (which I hope isn’t too much!). If you’re looking for a laid back, quiet companion, your search can end with me! For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org. We have so many beautiful, affectionate cats waiting for new homes that if you adopt one adult cat, you may also adopt another without paying a second adoption fee (save $65). If you can spare a 3- or 4-hour block of time each week, please contact TALGV to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 days a week. Paws Patrol Cats Sinatra One look at my blue eyes and when you hear my beautiful voice you’ll know how I got my name. I like dogs and wouldn’t mind older children but I need to be your “only” cat. I’ll be your companion, night and day; and, if you need one, I’m also an excellent mouser. Miss Abyss I was a hissy missy when I met other cats for the first time but wouldn’t mind keeping company with a male kitty (for friendship only) but no dogs, please! I’ll hold a conversation with you and offer my opinion. I’ll keep you company in any and all activities. I’m ready to find my forever home. Paws Patrol cats may be adopted, one for $65, two for $100. Don’t forget our free to seniors and handicapped program. Our cat adoption fair is held the second Sunday of each month at Green Valley Canine, 750 West Camino Casa Verde, from 1 to 4 P.M.
