Stars are in the making here in Green Valley.

Eight local Green Valley residents plus the Community Performing Arts Center are featured in a new fitness infomercial that was filmed at CPAC last August.

Green Valley resident Dagmar Munn is a fitness star. Let’s just say that it runs in the family. Dagmar’s father George Nissen, 95, invented the modern trampoline and made trampolining a worldwide sport. Dagmar’s husband, Ron Munn, was one of the first trampoline champions, and in 1959 won the gold medal in trampoline at the Pan American Games.

(There will be a sports story in the Green Valley News on these two exceptional athletes very soon.)

In the meantime, Dagmar is busy promoting the Health-Bounce Light, a home fitness rebounder which utilizes gravity to strengthen the body’s muscles, bones and heart.

The first medical research into the area of rebound therapy was conducted with the early astronauts at the NASA Space Center.

Dagmar says the HealthBounce Light is a low-impact aerobic conditioning workout that enhances overall endurance, balance and coordination.

Dagmar recruited a group of fitness enthusiasts who all had the opportunity to work out on their own Health-Bounce Light for the infomercial.

Tucson-based FireHouse Pictures selected the CPAC facilities over others available in the Tucson area based on the unique space and high quality of technical staging equipment CPAC offered.

According to Dagmar, the active adult fitness market is growing steadily with states such as Arizona leading the way in planned communities supporting a number of fitness and recreational options.

The Health-Bounce Light rebounder, manuafctured by Funtek USA, features a soft bouncing surface and a unique C-hoop which provides the user with balance and stability while rebounding.

It can be used in conjunction with any fitness program, for indoor exercise during inclement weather or for persons requiring gentle aerobic physical rehabilitation. I stopped by for a peek at the filming last August and got a glimpse of the Health-Bounce Light in action with locals Gloria Albrektsen, Jan Dougherty, Don Brown, Linda Touchette, as well as Dagmar, all demonstrating the new fitness product.

It was pretty much an all-day affair, but the crew and cast were very professional indeed and had a great time.

The infomercial started running this week and you can catch it on Cox Cable Channel 7 at 8 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, as well as 2 p.m. Friday. During the week of Oct. 19-23, it will run everyday at 8 a.m. and on Oct. 20 at 1:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. and on Oct. 22 at 12:30 p.m.

" The Nissen and Munn families are legends in trampoline history. I am glad to see Dagmar is continuing the family tradition of promoting physical fitness. "
