NewsA Green Valley couple was arrested Friday night in a Walgreen’s parking lot after deputies found the man and woman reportedly intoxicated and with a car full of prescription pain medication. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department received reports of a suspicious car parked askew in the parking lot of Walgreens, 313 W. Esperanza Blvd., in front of the entrance, according to a report. When they arrived about 7 p.m. they found a man and woman who were “obviously intoxicated and very disoriented,” according to the report. A search of their PT Cruiser turned up two methamphetamine pipes with residue and multiple bottles of prescription strength methadone, valium, oxycodone and IB Profin, deputies said. Deputies also found more than $1,000 in $20 bills wadded up in a box next to a note pad with the phone numbers of several area pharmacies, according to the report. Carolyn D. Speasl, 57, and Phillip Vacuda, 58, were arrested and charged with narcotics possession for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia, and were taken to Pima County Adult Detention Center. Speasl matched the description of a woman reported to authorities earlier that night who was walking in the middle of La Canada Drive in a white nightgown, according to the report. The suspects reportedly told deputies they were staying at a nearby hotel while work was being done on their house, and drove to the pharmacy to buy something to drink. A cat and a dog were taken from the hotel by Pima County Animal Control after the arrest, according to the report. jrichardson@gvnews.com | 547-9726
