LettersEditor: Was Joe Wilson Right? A lie of commission Makes us all stand and shout, But a lie of omission Could take years to find out. And if aliens cross borders For Socialist care, Seeking our doctors’ orders, While avoiding the fare With counterfeit papers (Provided by Libs) Pulling all the same capers, Telling all the same fibs, Then Obama won’t see it And “No one can know That illegals, albeit We can’t make ‘em go, “Were ‘gaming the system’ And growing like ‘shrooms As reconnaissance missed ‘em In Emergency Rooms.” “Besides,” says our leader “A Congressional pen ’Twixt the writer and reader Takes an age, and by then “I can pass other bills Midst my Howdies and Thankees, And without any frills Merely make them all Yankees!” Robert B. DFLer wrote on Sep 16, 2009 11:49 AM: " An outburst so rude A misinformed shout No matter his mood He shouldn’t act like a lout. Let’s not tell fibs Or lose our manners It isn’t the “libs” That wave racist banners. " Johnny Ringo wrote on Sep 16, 2009 4:13 PM: " To DFLer: The 1964 Civil Rights Act passed the Senate 73-27. 21 Democrats voted no. 6 democrats voted no. It was the Democrats who stood in the way of desegregation. It was a Democrat who blocked the entrance to the U of Alabama. How soon they forget. The race card is the last refuge of idiots. They cry wolf so much that when they use the words racist and racism they begin to lose there meaning. " Frank Stillwell wrote on Sep 16, 2009 4:45 PM: " Mr. Ringo: How could you leave out Robert Byrd? Sen. Robert Byrd, D-WV, has said repeatedly over the years that he joined the notorious anti-black hate group the Ku Klux Klan during World War II - not because he was a racist - but because the Klan had taken a strong stance against communism, a system of government that then existed only in the Soviet Union. Maybe he is right. After all did not president Obama sit in a racist anti-American church for 20 years and say he did not know. I never gave Byrd a pass and I will not give Obama a pass. " Don Cicci wrote on Sep 16, 2009 5:06 PM: " I am tired of the accusations that anybody who disagrees with the President is a racist. There are people who disagree who voted for him. As the old song says "who's sorry now". Even the President says it is not true. That genius from CA. Maxine Waters, made excuses for the Rodney King riots. There is a true racist or maybe just a complete imbecile. " Seeker of Truth wrote on Sep 16, 2009 6:10 PM: " Whenever I hear the illegal immigrant argument as a reason to stop or stall health insurance reform, I keep thinking the hidden agenda is to see all illegal immigrants denied health care treatment, i.e. turned away from hospitals. The laws that are under discussion say that federal money will not pay for illegal immigrants insurance. There is a law in the US that emergency rooms cannot turn away a patient who cannot pay, no matter their citizenship status. This is a moral decision--to treat the sick regardless of their ability to pay. if you ask the question "what would Christ do" you know the answer. He would treat the sick. " Randy Drenning wrote on Sep 17, 2009 5:11 AM: " If there were not any jobs for these illegals, there would not be any incentive to come here. The US Govt. does very little to stop this hiring of underpaid people due to the profit margins of the friends of those in power. " Dan wrote on Sep 17, 2009 7:09 AM: " Right or wrong in his accusation the point still is that Wilson was rude, disrespectful and wrong to commit such an outburst. Politics has turned into a game of anything goes regardless of how crude, fallacious or demeaning to America’s image. We should be better than that. If we are to be world leaders and a shining example of what a democratic nation can and should be, then we need to act like it. " BA wrote on Sep 17, 2009 8:44 AM: " No, I’m not a poet, Like some upon this page But you know and I know it The Fright Wing’s caused the rage. They stomp and whine and throw a fit Because they’re out of power Like Rush they don’t care a bit If they sound so sour. We know our borders aren’t secure There’s no way around it Bush failed, that’s for sure And Obama hasn’t solved it. But Libs aren’t to blame For illegal immigration While politicians play the game We live in a divided nation. Racism may not be the cause Of all the Right Wing smears But it has to give you pause To listen to all their fears. The sixties are quite long ago, What’s happening now is sad Take a breath, Frank and Ringo And stop being so darn mad! " Henry Hooker wrote on Sep 18, 2009 10:38 AM: " to:BA I saw no anger. I saw facts presented objectively which clowns like you refuse to address. You are right about one thing - you are no poet. " B.N. Kate wrote on Sep 18, 2009 10:44 AM: " I read the poem by BA and wondered where he saw the anger from Mr. Ringo or Mr. Stillwell. Let us be specific. Since when does presenting the the Senate vote on the 1964 Civil Rights Act constitute anger. It seemed to me that BA's poem projected considerably more anger. Take your tranquilizer and calm down. The historical record through the present day if one does some research includes Democratic bigotry in statements including those made by Joe Biden, but of course he just misspoke. All one has to do is take the blinders off. And there Robert Byrd sits in a fog even today. " Lucy Mancini wrote on Sep 18, 2009 10:49 AM: " BA: give the racism bit a rest. This country to its credit in some respects elected a Black man. I know plenty of people who are sorry now and it has to do srictly with the President's policies and nothing more. They did not become racists overnight. And as Mr. Ringo said the race card is the last refuge of idiots. " Tom wrote on Sep 18, 2009 2:19 PM: " Johny, I bet if you trace the blood lines most of those 1964 Democrats are Republicans now.... " Johnny Ringo wrote on Sep 19, 2009 7:11 AM: " Tom: Irrelevant. Byrd is a Democrat. Biden and Hillary have gotten passes for off colo, excuse the word, remarks. Fact remains that the disagreements from the great majority of Republicans is issue and policy based. Certainly, there are people who are racists. They are in a minority and they are rejected and this is true of both parties. When real racism rears its ugly head, we know it, but the terms are thrown about too freely hence reducing the meaning. When somebody like Al Sharpyon or Lewis Farrakhan calls a person or group racist, it is almost laughable. This country came a long way in electing Barack Obama. We are not perfect, but let's remember the world is not flocking to Venezuela. " Submit a Comment |
