RONALD T. HARRIS, 75, a Green Valley resident for 12 years and formerly of Tennessee and Michigan, passed away on Aug. 31, 2009.

He was born June 14, 1934, in Buffalo, N.Y. to Clifford C. and Evelyn E. Harris. He moved to Saginaw, Mich. at age seven and spent the next 30 years there.

He went to school at Holy Cross Lutheran for nine years and then graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1952.

He married Patricia A. Conway on July 11, 1953, as he finished his schooling at the General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich.

He worked as a GM engineer for 41 years, the last 10 years with the Saturn Corp., retiring in June 1996. He was one of the first groups chosen to start and build Saturn in Springhill, Tenn.

He belonged to Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw for 30 years. He was very active in the church and the school and was the first one trained to start the Kennedy program.

Ron and Pat retired to Green Valley in 1997. He was a member of the GM Executive Club, the Green Valley Elks Lodge and their golf group, the Michigan Club of GV and also the Santa Cruz golf group. He was an avid golfer and passed on his love for golf to his next two generations.


He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his sister Shirley, who passed away in 1951 at the age of 15 from polio.

He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 56 years; son Clifford C. (Andrea) and their children Haylin Lee and Cole Christian; and son Ronald T. (Debbie) Harris Jr. and their children Ronald III and Emily Marie.

A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Desert Hills Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martin Overson officiating and Rev. Karen Nelson assisting. A light lunch will be served after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
