Health bill

Published: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 10:15 PM MST

Editor:

Congress member Giffords won’t answer questions. I’ve sent several e-mail questions and not one response.

I was hoping she’d have a Town Hall here, but she, like many of her colleagues, are afraid to face the voters.

She cancelled a meeting in Green Valley Monday!

I’d like to ask:

1. Has she read the entire 1,016 pages?

2. Is she willing to forgo her taxpayer paid insurance and get into the mix with her constituents?

3. Why are the Democrats in such a hurry to get this passed with little serious debate?

4. Is she in favor of letting unelected bureaucrats write the rules as specified in the bill?

5. Is she aware that we can’t afford this monstrosity as presented?

6. Is she aware that Cap and Trade (Cap and TAX) will cost each family about $1,200 a year?

Yes the Democrats won the election. Yes they can do anything they want. Yes they can follow Obama lockstep.

Prediction: The health bill will pass in September with few changes and the protesting American people will be ignored.

After all, we who protest are called Nazis, hooligans, mobsters and worse by Pelosi and her flock but as the Speaker recently said: “I don’t care if they despise me. I’m in control.”

Old baseball term? “Wait till next year.”

The Republican party did not tell me to write this!

" Maybe the Democrats are thinking about my niece? She's being treated for a very serious skin cancer, and her private insurance will cover only a tiny portion of the cost. She teaches at a private Christian school and has no benefits. And, with her pastor husband, will likely lose her small home.

Meanwhile, I enjoy the benefits of a "socialistic" plan called Medicare. Were I to suffer the same type of cancer, treatment would be covered with little out-of-pocket expense.

Is that fair? "
