LettersEditor: This is the only country in the civilized world that has non-governmental insured health care for its citizens. My brother and his wife were in Germany on a vacation when she had a serious bout with colorectal inflamation, which immediately rendered her bed-ridden in her hotel. My brother called the desk for an ambulance to take her to the nearest hospital. Instead of the ambulance, a doctor arrived within the hour, to perform a preliminary examination. Upon conclusion of the exam, he indicated that surgery is the only option. He also asked if he wanted a general practitioner or a specialist to perform the operation. Of course, my brother opted for the specialist. She was operated on in one of the major hospitals in Frankfurt four hours later. She was able to travel back home three days later to San Diego. All this hoopla about waiting in line for medical services in a country with ‘socialist’ medicine is fictitious and injurious to our country, realizing that health care for the citizens and not the greedy corporations should be the top most agenda of the Obama administration. All the opponents to Obama’s agenda on this should be labeled first and foremost “unpatriotic” and secondly, “puppets” for the huge medi-insurance complex lobbying millions of dollars to sabotage the agenda.
