GEORGE JOHN KAELBER was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Oct. 11, 1922, and died Aug. 1, 2009.

Published: Tuesday, August 4, 2009 6:30 PM MST

He and his wife, Jean Zenner, met at Cornell, class of ’44, and were married in California, where his U.S. Army training was done in photo intelligence.

World War II ended and they went back to Rochester where he worked for Eastman Kodak Co. Daughters Libby (Mark Adams) and Linda (Tim Keefe) were born there, and then Eastman Kodak transferred him to Dallas, Texas, where Geo said “life began.”

He travelled eight states as a Sales Promotion Specialist until a severe illness had him “think twice” and retire at 55.

They moved to Florida briefly, and then moved back to Texas, Austin this time, where 23 years were spent before coming to Green Valley and La Posada in ’03.

Four wonderful Grands arrived, Kristin (Max) and Gary, Christopher (Maria) and Kelly - his heart’s delights.

Water activities and camping were prime family delights, be it water skiing or sailing. The early retirement gave much time for wonderful world travels which they did “their way,” thus many exciting “adventures.”

He was a man who could fix or figure out anything. Chemistry always fascinated him, thus he became a terrific chef (taught Jean a thing or three).

No musician was he, but he had a good voice - he was always requested to do the tenor in “barbershop.”

He became an addict of ALL Jazz. Oh how he would have loved to have been able to do what Benny Goodman did with the clarinet.

He and Jean were blessed with 65 years together and shared the knowledge that shortly the first Great Grands would arrive - twin boys.

He shall be greatly missed by family and friends. Our memories of him will never end.
