Guest Comment: Dumbing down at Tubac

I have just witnessed a result of the dumbing down of the United States population.

The Tubac Chamber of Commerce hosted a duel in the desert between the Coalition for Secure Borders (CSB) and the U.S. Border Patrol Wed. July 15th in Tubac.

Thank you very much for the organizational effort, Tubac Chamber of Commerce.

The Coalition for Secure Borders presentation is the height of people without law enforcement knowledge or experience having the temerity to lecture the Border Patrol on law enforcement!

The CSB presenter has all the credentials of “I’m no expert, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.”

The presenters position that “I come from a law enforcement family” holds the same water that “my father was an airline pilot therefore I must be able to fly an airplane.”

Marilyn vos Savant (the highest recorded IQ person) said “people can be educated beyond their IQ, just look at all our lawyers.”

The CSB’s thinly veiled position is simply a “Not In My Back Yard” (NIMBY) reaction by this group and some Tubac locals.

The speakers at the “Questions from the audience” session:

The first speaker: A pony-tailed shining example of whom one could assume is an advocate for legalizing what apparently has burned his brain.

The lawyer who is now selling real estate; shows how poorly some educated beyond their IQ are doing now.

The person who claimed to have spoken to many hostile atomic energy audiences: Please tell us what is relevant in that experience to border control problems?

The little lady Grey Panther from Sahurita: What will you do with the statistics you have requested? Oh, by the way are you willing to pay the Border Patrol the salary for the extra person to gather the “Gee Whiz” statistics?

Those of you who expressed humiliation and harassment at the checkpoint: I’ll bet you felt the same way toward your grade school teacher who made you memorize your multiplication tables…shame on you.

To those loud-mouth men shouting from the audience: Why didn’t you stand up and address the presenters formally? Are you afraid of speaking and removing all doubt that you are fools?

You who think our honorable Congresswoman is responsive; Don’t get your hopes up.

Do you know she does not take meetings with individual constituents? No, I’m not making this up…she can make her own rules, and she does!

She and her staff will not answer questions in letters, e-mails or phone calls: You get a governmental-pap circular-logic obfuscation.

It is her choice to answer your questions with information totally unrelated to the question.

For example: One of my e-mail questions regarding the temporary Border Patrol facility was answered with her universal health care observations: Thanks for nothing.

Instead of bleating like a herd of sheep, why don’t you people do some investigating to find out why the Border Patrol shuts down the checkpoints in rain/thunderstorms?

You would find out it is because of the probability of lawsuits from drivers in the rain, crashing and then suing the BP for the accident (thanks again to our lawyers).

It also has to do with the lightning strike possibility at these make-shift temporary checkpoints. Even golfers get off the course when there is a threat of lightning.

Those of you who think the BP has infinite resources, as the Rev. Randy Mayer has stated, are definitely not clear thinkers.

Don’t you think Chief Gilbert and Chief Aguilar would have a 500-mile-long line of officers 24/7 along the border if ”cost is no object?”

All this heat and no light because of your selfish NIMBY!
