Work is expected to be finished late Thursday on a dozen power lines along La Canada that came down last Wednesday during a monsoon.

Tucson Electric Power spokesman Joseph Barrios said crews have finished much of the work and are checking breakers and switches. He said the company doesn’t expect anymore outages as work is completed.

On Monday, a cable failure led to a two-hour outage in the area just south of Duval Road on La Canada on one of the hottest days of the year.

“Our hope is that we can finish all these permanent repairs without further interruptions,” Barrios said.

Last week’s storm knocked out power to about 6,000 TEP customers and 800 TRICO customers, and knocked down a dozen wood power poles, which have been replaced with metal poles. Power was out to some customers for about 22 hours.
