Briefs: PCOA board elects officers

Dr. Alan I. Levenson has been elected chairman of the board of directors of Pima Council on Aging.

PCA is the designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Pima County residents and provides services for older adults and their families.

A board member since 2006, Levenson is a psychiatrist with more than 40 years of experience in psychiatry and administration of psychiatric services at Palo Verde Hospital.

Other new PCA board officers elected are Dr. David Updegraff, as first vice chairman; Leslie Hunter as second vice chairman; Dr. Jessie Pergrin as secretary; and Michael Daranyi as treasurer.

During the annual meeting of PCOA membership on June 17, three board members were elected: Jacob Bernal, executive director of the Tucson Indian Center; Robert Herman, assistant director of facilities management at the University of Arizona; and Mark Neal, retired after a 17-year tenure at IBM and a member of the African American Advisory Board of the University of Arizona.

Treasurer to address


real estate investors

Treasurer Dean Martin will discuss the status of the U.S. and state economies, how we got into this situation, and how long we can expect it to last on Tuesday in Tucson.

The Arizona Real Estate Investors Association will also give a real estate market update about the greater Tucson marketplace. The meeting will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Windmill Suites at St. Phillip’s Plaza, 4250 N. Campbell Road in Tucson.

The meeting is free to AZREIA members. Guests are $20, or $15 if pre-paid at www.azreia.org.
