$50,000 taken in home robbery

A string of Green Valley robberies over the holiday weekend has law enforcement officials cautioning the public to be wary of opportunistic thieves.

More than $50,000 worth of jewelry, electronics and antiques was stolen Friday from a home in the 400 block of Paseo Santa Isabel, according to Pima County Sheriff’s Department records.

The victim called police after returning home to find the kitchen door ajar.

Officers didn’t find anybody when they arrived, according to the report, but they “noticed that the house was pretty destroyed,” with drawers gone through and dumped out.

“The area where jewelry possibly would have been left was all gone. The closets were torn apart. Clothes and papers were thrown everywhere around the house,” the report continued.

The victim said she didn’t know who carried out the robbery, but said a man came to her door a week or two ago asking if she needed any landscaping done.

“She spoke to him through the door because she did not feel comfortable opening it with him there,” according to the report. “She said she observed him looking around the house as if sizing it up.”

Among the stolen items were a 20-inch I-Mac computer, a printer, Nikon binoculars, two small televisions, antiques, jewelry and snuff boxes.

Meanwhile, a guest staying at the Canoa Ranch Resort reported $60 missing from a nightstand.

And four vehicle larcenies were called in between Monday and Tuesday, all in a neighborhood southwest of Duval Mine Road between Via Alamos and West Camino Casa Verde.

Vickie Forbes of the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, said these kinds of crimes frequently go unsolved and are rarely premeditated.

“Most of these are crimes of opportunity,” she said. “There were four in the same neighborhood so that leads me to believe it was teenagers.”

“Lock your doors. Don’t leave anything valuable in the car,” she said. “That’s my best advice for people.”

" This man uses this landscaping farce as a diversion to distact this elderly woman&look around the house so that he can literally rob her.

Those are my sentiments exactly.

This man is the one who broke into this poor womans house&robbed her totally blind.

The reason he stole the jewelry, computer&the other valuable items is so he can fence them off&use that money to purchase drugs or alcohol.

No ifs,ands,or buts about it.

This man ought to be ashamed of himself for stealing from an elderly woman.

Does all this man ever do is totally take advantage of the elderly&the infirm?

He better just watch it!!

Some day he will encounter somebody that is much stronger&much more versatile than what he is.

And he will be in for a rude awakening then.

And he will be the sorriest man alive once that he has been completely pummeled on.

He better watch his step because the next homeowner might have a gun&he might end up dead the moment he steps in that door.

And he most certainly won't look so pretty with a bullet in him&then lying on the floor bleeding to death.

This man better learn how to perform an honest occupation as opposed to a dishonest one.

All jobs that are service related are the honest ones.

And the ones that are not service related are regarded as the dishonest ones.

Every job that you perform is a service related job.

And each&every job requires total commitment&dedication to your employer.

You must be totally loyal&devoted to your employer at all times.

During these economic times stealing is much more promoinent these days.

But on the contrary, even if you are poor&totally destitute,it simply doesn't give you any right to steal at all period.

If you steal, you must face the dire consequences for your actions.

What this man needs to start doing is to procure some employment or do some volunteer work within the confines of the community as opposed to stealing from elderly women.

There are alot more better ways to bide your time as opposed to engaging in deceptive activities.

This man must pay the penalty most adherent to his particular crime.

And he must pay full restitution to this poor woman for all of the pain&anguish that he has caused her.

And he should be sentenced to 100 hours or more of community service to help defray the cost of the items that he has stolen from this poor woman.

Both the elderly&the disabled are very vulnerable to scams such as these.

It would be an excellent idea if family&friends or even neighbors do wellness checks on them to help to ensure both their safety&total well being.

If everyone did that it would be a much more safer environment for all involved.

Likewise, all who in some manner who have taken part in a theft or who have knowlingly benefited from it for example, those who ordered it,assisted in it.or received the stolen goods are obliged to make restitution in proportion to their responsibility and to their share of what was stolen.

I sincerely hope that the police find this man&that he gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law possible. "
