ColumnsThe Animal League of Green Valley Mouse You’d never know it now, but when I was a wee kitten here at TALGV a year ago (you can see my baby picture in the adoption office), I was a “mousy” looking little thing and thus my name! Well, I’ve turned into a striking, 12-pound, multi-colored, tabby lady, and I am only back at TALGV because my “mom” had a stroke and can no longer care for me. I am said to be rather quiet and laid back, very affectionate, and just generally a very good-natured girl. Naturally, at my age, I still like to chase the odd “ghost” around the house, and if you give me those catnip mice or furry balls, I’ll make short work of them, too! If this is the day you decide to add a warm and loving feline to your life, I’ll be here waiting! Purr Gleaming ebony fur, glittering golden eyes and a “purrfect” personality to match! That’s what you get in one sleek package! I am a small, ’round-about 1-year-old, girl who was found on the street in the Casas de Abrego section of Green Valley. The man who found me said that in the three days he had me I was playful, affectionate, outgoing and kittenlike, and that I just love to be held (I’m definitely not your stereotypical aloof feline!). At first it was hoped that I had just accidentally slipped out of my home and that my people were frantically looking for me, but evidently that was just a pipe dream, so this could be your lucky day. Sammy I was found near death lying alongside the road in a remote desert area with severe wounds inflicted by a wild animal. My wonderful rescuer took me home and nursed me back to health but was unable to keep me. I am a St. Bernard mix boy who is somewhere between 2 and 5 years old, and, as my savior says, am “a lovely dog who is intelligent and only wants to please.” I’m leash-trained and am getting better at obedience every day. I get along great with teenagers but am unsure about small children. I am, as they say, a “gentle giant,” one who is hoping for lots of TLC and a forever home. Let me prove to you that there is no devotion like that of a rescue dog. Hunter My friend Sandy and I are two more victims of the current economic situation. Our owners simply couldn’t afford to keep us and are moving out of the area. I am a handsome, 6-year-old, purebred, German shepherd. Although my people loved me to pieces, they just didn’t have the time to spend on my training, but I’m gentle, tolerant and eager to please, I know that the right person will have no trouble at all teaching me the things I should have learned in my youth. I want desperately to be an integral part of a family and to spend most of my time inside with them, so I’m looking for people who want me to become what I was born to be: a warm, obedient, and loving companion. For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org. If you can spare a 3- or 4-hour block of time each week, please contact TALGV to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available, and to find out more about a rewarding in-home experience, please stop by and ask about our foster program. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 days a week. Paws Patrol Heather My former family had to give me up so I’m really looking for a new, permanent home. My black-and-white fur is so soft and you’ll love stroking me. I’m very affectionate and get along with dogs as well as other kitties. If you’re looking for a loving companion, I’m for you. Mickey I’ve lost my former home and am very sad. I want a new family to love. I’m gray and black with a puff tail. I’m not shy when it comes to my food dish. Please consider me if you are looking for a wonderful companion.
