Today it was the privilege of our newcomers’ club, the Sunbeams, to visit Simpson’s Wildlife Preserve in Montana Vista.
Sue showed us how she cares for crippled hawks and owls to nurse them back to health.
We saw tiny quails and some a bit larger.
There was an emu and a horse and a baby javelina.
We saw the giant Tombstone Roses and the bamboo that Sue has planted to shade the pens where the animals are kept, and the flying yards needed to reintroduce the birds to the wild.
It is a blessing to have such a refuge close to Green Valley.
