New full-service car wash employs 25

Leon Marx knows the car wash business. Starting his first operation in 1965, he has now proudly assisted his daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Ed Bernal, in launching the area’s newest full-service car wash and detailing center.

The Octopus Car Wash in Sahuarita opened Wednesday and offers a state-of-the art rotating brush and high pressure cleaning system and eight shaded detailing bays where patrons can get anything from a wax job, to complete auto detailing services — while they wait.

Marx already has a car wash in Show Low and three in Tucson.

“We are extremely excited about opening in Sahuarita. The area is growing and we thought the time was right to jump in,” Jody said.

Prior to Wednesday’s opening, Ed Bernal had finished the final tests and fine tuning on the cleaning systems and had completed the training program for the 25 full- and part-time workers that the car wash employs.

“We are all about offering high-quality service at a fair price,” he said.

Prices begin at $5.99 for a basic external wash. A full service wash is $6.99, and there are monthly “Preferred Club” packages available. In addition to a basic wash, customers can choose several levels of detailing, hand waxing and other services.

The Octopus Car Wash has a retail area with observation windows so customers can watch their vehicle as it proceeds down the line.
