NewsCasa De Esperanza will present a free seminar called “You Don’t Need Another Stroke or a Future Heart Attack” to educate stroke survivors, family members and caregivers about how to help protect against a future stroke or heart attack. The seminar will be held at the Casa Community Center, 780 S. Park Centre Ave., at 1:30 p.m. on July 7. It will provide stroke survivors with information to help them more effectively participate in their own recovery. Educational materials will be distributed to all attendees. According to the American Heart Association, there are about 5.5 million stroke survivors in the United States today. People who have had a stroke face up to a nine times greater risk of having another stroke and are at more than double the risk of having a heart attack versus the general population. The seminar includes an educational video which addresses: The video also educates stroke survivors about the importance of post-stroke therapy.
