ColumnsThe Animal League of Green Valley Belle Belle’s mom is unable to keep Belle and her brother O’Malley because her health has been declining lately. They are 2--year-old, declawed, blue-eyed, beautifully-colored, Siamese mixes who are rather frightened right now because of the sudden change in their circumstances. Belle’s mom said that she is a quiet and laid back lady who is very well-behaved, and although a bit shy at first, she’s always very friendly with her person. Belle likes to play with those small, fuzzy, colorful balls, and her mom said “Belle has no bad habits!” Isn’t that nice? Once she gets used to her new surroundings (both here at TALGV and in her new home), you’ll see what a lovely, calm companion she can be! Buttons Buttons and her sister Sweet Sue were found under a mobile home in Sahuarita along with their mom and three other siblings (who have gone to the Humane Society to find homes). Since they lived outside most of their lives, they’re really lucky to still be here! They are just a tad shy with people right now, but with all the attention they’re getting at TALGV, they will come out of their shells in a jiffy. Buttons is an 8-week-old, “drop-dead gorgeous,” long-haired, black and white little girl who is already learning to play, play, play (then eat, sleep, and repeat!). She’s going to make some lucky family a wonderful addition to their lives, so if there is a “certain something” you think you’ve been missing, it could well be Buttons! Sophie Sophie was living with a wonderful foster family (that consisted of three kids ranging in age from 5 to 13 years, four other Boxers, and a cat!) for eight months because the couple she had lived with all her life divorced and neither of them could keep her. Sadly, she turned out to be one mouth too many to feed in her new home, so here she is, looking again for a place where she can spend the rest of her life. Sophie is a beautiful, healthy, brindle, 9-year-old, spayed Boxer lady who is sweetness itself. She adores going for car rides and long walks. Everyone at TALGV agrees that she is the quintessential lover and will fit in just about anywhere, so come on down and meet her today! Gus Gus is one happy-go-lucky, small black, white and tan Rat Terrier. Gus lived with his dad, a senior citizen, all of his three years, but he just didn’t have the time to teach Gus the ropes properly. He’s house-trained, walks fine on a leash, and is brilliant and playful, but if he doesn’t get enough attention, he tends to make his own brand of fun (like checking out the neighborhood and trying find buried treasure in his backyard!). But he really doesn’t “want” to do those things - he simply needs more attention from his family and to be included in life’s goings on, and then he’ll be a perfect gentleman. Gus is gentle and tolerant and all he wants is a place in your home and your heart! For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org. If you can spare a 3- or 4-hour block of time each week, please contact TALGV to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available, and to find out more about a rewarding in-home experience, please stop by and ask about our foster program. Our hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 days a week. Paws Patrol Sabrina There’s nothing as fun as having a kitten in the house, unless it’s two kittens! I’m only 2-1/2 months old but I’m ready to make someone a wonderful pet. I wouldn’t mind having one of my sisters or my brother for company. I love having my brown tabby fur stroked and being cuddled. Charlie What’s a fellow to do? I’m overwhelmed with my three sisters and while I’m looking forward to having a home of my own, I must admit I wouldn’t mind if one of my sisters came along for company. Wouldn’t you love a handsome, gray fellow like me to be your companion? These and all other Paws Patrol cats and kittens can be had at $65 for one or $100 for two. Come see them all at the next pet adoption fair, Sunday, June 14, at Green Valley Canine, 750 W. Camino Casa Verde, from 1 to 4 p.m. For donations or inquiries, write Paws Patrol, P.O.
