EDWARD “TED” A. BAILY, 84,

Published: Tuesday, June 2, 2009 8:49 PM MST

of Green Valley and formerly of Syracuse, N.Y., died Saturday May 30, 2009, at home surrounded by friends and family.

Ted was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated from Amherst College and then received his MBA from Harvard Business School. As an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, he participated in “Magic Carpet Duty” - bringing our soldiers and sailors home from the Pacific islands after WWII.

Ted’s summers were spent near the town of Old Forge, N.Y. on Fourth Lake at family-owned Eddystone Lodge which was built in 1900 by his grandfather. In the late 1940s, he and his brother Fred refurbished an 18-foot mahogany Cris Craft runabout named Sabrina. His ashes will be scattered over Fourth Lake from Sabrina.

Ted’s career spanned over 40 years. After 17 years with GE, he spent the next 23 years with Carrier Corp. eventually becoming the Vice President of Government and Industry Relations.

Ted loved cars - especially Jaguars and Corvettes. He was passionate about playing golf, and regretted that his scores did not reflect that passion.

Ted was married for 31 years to his late wife Julie, who owned Gallery 2 in Syracuse. They started collecting contemporary art in San Francisco, Calif. in 1974.

Ted was a member of the Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley and was active in a covenant Bible study group.

He is survived by his sons Jeffrey and Scott; and his brother Fred.

A celebration of life service was held Monday, June 1, 2009, in the La Joya Celebration Room at La Posada in Green Valley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock AR 72202, www.heifer.org/animal.
