NewsWoman charged in crash that killed Tucson officer from Sahuarita
By Jaime Richardson, Green Valley NewsA Tucson woman faces 30 days in jail and $10,000 in fines in connection with a fatal collision that killed a Tucson police officer from Sahuarita this month. Peter Mannino, 42, died May 17 when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle making a left turn onto Benson Highway. Mannino, a nine-year veteran of the Tucson Police Department, was headed home from work and was wearing a helmet. Lluvia Alejandra Dominguez, 22, will face a civil penalty for failure to yield and is also charged with causing death by moving violation, said David Berkman, Pima County’s chief criminal deputy attorney. Dominquez won’t face felony charges. The accident was not drug- or alcohol-related, Berkman said. Scores of fellow officers filled a small Sahuarita church for Mannino’s funeral last week. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
