DAMON LEE PATTON was born Aug. 3, 1939, in Wichita, Kan.

and passed away May 16, 2009, just before his 70th birthday.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude Patton and Beryl Barney. He is survived by his daughter Veronica Patton; her fiance Francesco Marchesi; former wife Erminia Patton; and brother-in-law Guido Fusi (Maria Grazia), all of Milan, Italy. He is also survived by his stepfather Ollie Barney of Rio Rico; brother Dr. Peter Patton (Naomi) of Oklahoma; sisters Danni Coalter (John) of Tucson and Sherry Caldwell (Greg Roth) of Green Valley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Damon was graduated from the University of Kansas and spent nearly 40 years working as a computer systems consultant in the U.S. and in Italy. He had many business associates in Italy and even more very dear friends, especially the Cavanaghi families - Franco, Enrica, Marco, Roberta, Enea, Maria Pia and Guido.

Damon had that rare gift of making someone feel as if he or she was truly his best friend. He nurtured and cherished his friendships with people of all ages and different walks of life. He never offered his friends less than his unconditional love and support.

During the last few years in Minnesota and since moving to Green Valley in 1997, Damon was very active in live theater productions. He had just completed a three-year term as president of the University of Arizona Theater Advisory Board. It was such a joy to see his enthusiasm and pride when describing how his “kids” at the U of A Fine Arts College were developing their talents and theater skills. He attended their rehearsals as well as their productions, always offering his encouragement.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Pueblo Estates Clubhouse, 145 West Aliso, Green Valley, AZ.

Damon’s passing leaves an empty space in many, many lives. He is truly and dearly missed. Vaya con Dios.
