Suspect illegal immigrants held in Tubac

Published: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 4:46 PM MST

About seven suspected illegal immigrants were apprehended in the Barrio de Tubac community, just south of Tubac, around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday by Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies and Border Patrol Agents. Judith Noyes said the scene unfolded in front of her home. She said deputies told her they’d been following a truck northbound on Interstate 19 for several miles and trailed the pickup when it exited at Aliso Spring Road and entered the subdivision. Deputies told her the driver of the truck escaped, she said. Border Patrol and the SCCSO did not immediately provide information. Photo by Judith Noyes
