The county board on Tuesday will consider having the county become a cooperating agency in the Forest Service decision in the Rosemont Mine; a 2.7-acre rezoning in Green Valley Country Club Estates; and appointing former Sahuarita Town Council member Marty Moreno to the county Library Board.

The meeting is at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the county board meeting room on the first floor of the county administration building 130 W. Congress Street, Tucson.

Developer pushes

Mission project

Rancho Sahuarita developer Bob Sharpe has proposed a 462-acre development that could be zoned for up to 864 units at South Mission Road and Helmet Peak Road, about five miles west of Interstate 19 in Pima County.

The town Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday will hear a Major General Plan Amendment request from Sharpe & Associates for the Sahuarita Mission project, which would change 432 acres west of Curley Horn Ranch from Rural Homestead to low-density residential, and 30 acres nearly encircling the intersection to mixed use. The Mission Peaks project lies to the west, south and southeast and the Asarco mine is to the north.

Under current zoning, 112 homes would be allowed and the requested designations would allow between 112 and 864. Mixed use allows a combination of commercial and residential.

The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Town Hall.
