NewsConcert highlights farmer’s market/festival
By Annette KellySpecial to The Sahuarita Sun Singer/songwriter Amber Norgaard headlines a concert Thursday night as part of the Sahuarita Summer Nights Festival, which includes plenty to do for the kids. The free concert is part of the weekly Farmer’s Market at the town center. A free children’s craft and vendors with interesting products are part of the event. Norgaard, whose style is often compared to Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan and Melissa Etheridge, weaves her strong, clear voice with multi-layered harmonies. Her music is always upbeat, and she enjoys people and touching their souls with her music. Within her work you’ll hear echoes of her Alaska homestead childhood, her time working as a nurse in the Dominican Republic, her travels in Mexico and throughout the deserts and forests of the Western and Southwestern United States. Local musicians Marni Kennedy and Cameron Cook will join Norgaard, performing everything from rock and roll to country. IF YOU GO Sahuarita Summer Nights Festival and farmers market runs from 5-8 p.m. Thursdays at Town Hall, featuring crafts, children’s activities and a free concert.
