ColumnsTHE ANIMAL LEAGUE OF GREEN VALLEY Kitsy Kitsy and her best friend, Mister (who has been adopted), had their world turned upside down because their mom had to move and couldn’t take them with her. Kitzy is a gorgeous, 10-year-old, spayed, grey and white lady who loves to be nuzzled, petted, and hugged by her person. She also enjoys playing with those fuzzy catnip balls and bell cat toys (you’d never know she’s 10 years old!). Although she’s lived with just her mom for five years, she’s had lots of teenagers visit and everyone got along famously, so she’d probably do fine in a home with “mature” kids! She likes to sleep in the bedroom with you in her own bed (or maybe with you, if you don’t mind!), and she promises that she’ll make a wonderful companion for many years to come. Tomasina Well, there Tomasina was, checking out the neighborhood one day and what, to her surprise, did she find? An open patio door! You just know that any curious cat worth her salt would have to walk on in, so that’s what Tomasina did! Unfortunately, nice as she was, the residents couldn’t keep her, so here she is, looking for another home where she can make herself comfortable. Tomasina is a lovely, declawed (she never should have been outside!), grey tabby girl, and a pretty outgoing one at that! If you need companionship of the feline kind, then she’s just the girl for you. Dusty Dusty and his sister Dixie (who has been adopted) came from one of those horrible puppy mills in the Midwest, and after the people who bought them discovered that they weren’t “real” Miniature Poodles, they decided they didn’t want them any longer. So…here Dusty is, a six-month-old white and apricot Poodle mix (maybe there’s some Westie in there somewhere), who only wants to love his people and be loved in return. Dusty hasn’t had a whole lot of education in doggie manners yet, but he’s old enough to learn all those things in no time. He is as affectionate as can be with adults (but doesn’t do too well with children) and he loves to sleep in bed with you at night. Since he’s just recently been neutered and is up to date with all his shots, he’s ready to go home with you today! Zena Her name is spelled differently than the “Princess Warrior,” but she’s still pretty awesome anyway! Zena was brought to TALGV by “a friend of a friend” because her person had become disabled and could no longer care for her cat. She is an adorable (if a gal who weighs 50 pounds can be called “adorable!”!) 2-year-old, brown and white, Heeler and Bassett (or Corgi?) mix (she has a very long body with fairly short legs, but the markings of a Heeler), with wonderfully floppy, symmetrical brown ears framing her white, speckled face. Not a combo you see every day! And to top it all off, Zena is the sweetest thing in the world, so she’ll make one devoted, loving, and eternally grateful companion for some lucky family. For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org. TALGV hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 days a week. PAWS PATROL Johnny Boy: I’m a three-year-old brown tabby who’s a melt-in-your-arms kind of guy. I love tummy rubs and especially hanging out with my best friend, Bell. We’d love for someone to give us a forever home together. Bell: I was born in March, 2008. I’m enjoying being an indoor cat but feel really safe with my friend, Johnny Boy, looking after me. We’d love a quiet home together and will give someone loads of purrs, play time and love. Paws Patrol will waive the adoption fee if these two special friends can be adopted together. Don’t forget our Free-to-Seniors program and the two-for-one price of $50 through May 31st. Otherwise the price is $50 for one cat and $65 for two.
