Agents find danger in the desert

Border Patrol agents have one more thing to watch for in the desert: Snakes.

In trees.

Agents from the Casa Grande Border Patrol Station found a large Mojave rattlesnake in a tree recently, and it’s not an uncommon discovery.

The Mojave is three- to four-feet long and aggressive toward people. It is found in parts of the Southwestern United States and deep into Mexico.

It is most active in summer, so agents draw on their training to identify and deal with the snakes. The Border Patrol said agents have been bitten while working in remote areas.
