ColumnsNikki Nikki is a declawed, 9--year-old, 17-pound, long-haired, orange tabby boy whose family didn’t have time to spend with him anymore. He lived with them all his life, so he really needs a new family to fill the void. His former family said that Nikki is quiet and laid back, gentle, playful (even for his size) and sometimes independent. He loves to lie on the sofa next to you or sleep at the foot of the bed at night. He never jumps on counters, and likes to be brushed and play with those intriguing catnip mice. He just generally likes to “hang out” with you - wherever you are - and help you in any way he can. He doesn’t get along with other cats, however, so if you take Nikki home, he should be the only feline in your life! KC KC is a handsome, 3-year-old, long-haired, grey and white, neutered male, and although he is sometimes a tad shy of strangers at first, once he gets to know you, he’s your constant companion. KC went to live with a family earlier in the year, but he and the other cats didn’t get along, so everyone agrees that KC must be an “only child.” But that will just make KC and his family a lot closer. He is a laid back fellow, but he does like an occasional romp around the house and loves playing with catnip mice and sticks with ribbons and strings on them. His favorite place to sleep at night is right next to you, so if KC sounds like your kind of guy, visit him at The Animal League of Green Valley and get acquainted! Brook A black and tan package of pure eagerness and warmth is what you’ll get when you make Brook yours! She was found with her girlfriend, Bridget, “street walking” in Sahuarita. Brook is a 49-pound, 2-year-old, shepherd mix lady. As with many of the residents here at TALGV, there isn’t a whole lot known about her upbringing, but you can bet your boots that if you take Brook home, she’ll do her very best to make sure that you always remember the day you made the decision to adopt her! Brook has a lot of life to live and love to give! Blanco The intersection of Sahuarita Road and Interstate 19 is not the place for a guy like Blanco to be out for a stroll! Happily for him, a lovely lady happened by, sweet-talked him into her car, and brought him to TALGV. Blanco is a white (surprise!), 18-month-old, 41-pound Pointer mix boy who, the volunteers say, is gentle and friendly. If he could talk, he’d have a fascinating story to tell, but since he can’t, you’ll just have to take his word that he is going to stick to you like glue if you make him a part of your family. Blanco is young enough to still have lots of fun puppy ways, but old enough to have gotten over the “hard stuff” of raising one. So, for the best of both worlds, Blanco is the one. For more information about these and other lovable pets waiting for their own, special home, visit The Animal League of Green Valley at 1600 W. Duval Mine Road, call 625-3170, or visit www.talgv.org. If you can spare a 3- or 4-hour block of time each week, please contact TALGV to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available, and to find out more about a rewarding in-home experience, please stop by and ask about our foster program. TALGV hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 days a week. Paws Patrol Tango Two-year-old Tango is a beautiful white male with black markings, rescued in January 2009, cold, thin, starving and declawed. He is thriving in his new foster home and loves people and well-behaved dogs but he doesn’t like cats. Sylvester Sylvester is a beautiful, talkative Tuxedo male just over one year old. He could be a character straight out of a Garfield comic--active, loves belly rubs and people. He survived a coyote attack and has lots of his nine lives left. Because he is still curious about the outdoors, he needs a home with few doors and no small children. Through May 31, adoption fees for Paws Patrol cats are $50 for one or $65 for two. All are kept in foster homes, spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and must be indoor-only cats. Don’t forget our Free-to-Seniors program. Adoption fairs are the second Sunday of each month at Green Valley Canine from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. To make donations or for further information, call (520)207-4024, or find us on the web at www.greenvalleypawspatrol.org, or write P.
