Respect for veterans

Published: Tuesday, May 5, 2009 10:05 PM MST

Mr. Manns, the thank you may not have been necessary but it was wonderful. There are so few of your “Greatest Generation” still with us that I for one respect each and every one of you.

The timing of your letter is great as I have a question for you and any other World War II hero who may read this.

I recently came into possession of some Stars and Stripes newspapers that belonged to my uncle. Many wonderful articles written on or very near the Normandy Invasion as well as other pertinent information during that time.

I am trying to find out where my family could donate these priceless newspapers, that they would be available for others to look at and know what the brave men and women of WWII did for us and their country. I plan to try to also contact the WWII Memorial.

I am hoping that someone here in Green Valley could be of some help to me in going in the right direction so our family can donate these papers in honor of our wonderful uncle.

Thank you Mr. Manns for the service you gave to your country.
