MARJORIE DEETZ EARLY, of Green Valley, died April 29, 2009.

Born April 3, 1925, in Rockford, Ill., she was the daughter of Guy and Ethel Deetz. She attended Rockford public schools and graduated from Lawrence University with a B.S. in music. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi fraternity, where she served in local, state and national offices. She married Gordon Early in 1947.

She was an officer and board member of the Rockford Women’s Club, the Community Concert Assoc., the Orchestra Guild and Junior League. A private piano teacher and substitute music teacher in the public schools, she was also a member of the Court St. United Methodist Church in Rockford.

She retired to Green Valley in 1990, and was a member of the DA chapter of PEO and Newcomers 13C - Dreamcatchers.

Survivors include her husband Gordon; daughter Deidre Early; and granddaughter Emily Eberhardt. She was preceded in death by her parents; and son Guy B. Early D.D.S.

At the family’s request, cremation rites were accorded and there will be no services or visitation. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery of Rockford. Arrangements by Green Valley Mortuary.
