LettersThe Gleaning Program conducted by the Green Valley Community Food Bank was a tremendous success this year. The Food Bank received 54,901 pounds of citrus, picked by 38 volunteers working 467 hours! We were able to supply all our clients in Green Valley and Sahuarita with as many oranges, grapefruit and lemons that they could use. In addition, the wonderful response from the community enabled us to send some of the excess citrus to the Amado and Nogales Food Banks, the Nogales Crossroads Mission and the Arivaca Human Resource Center. The success of this program is due to the dedication and hard work of our gleaning volunteers and the generosity of this community. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of you. With your help we are able to fulfill our mission to anticipate and meet the food needs of the hungry in our community. We look forward to the 2010 gleaning season which will run Jan. 1 - April 15. Mary Jane Goodrick, Executive Director, Green Valley Community Food Bank
