Border Patrol agents rapelled down a rope Wednesday to rescue a suspected illegal immigrant from a remote mountaintop in the Baboquivari Mountains on the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation.

The 22-year-old immigrant called 911 from the mountain and said he was out of water and unable to walk any farther.

Agents determined his location using landmarks, and agents organized crews from several agencies. A Blackhawk helicopter was deployed after it was determined a copter couldn’t land in the area. A DPS helicopter was also on scene to provide assistance.

Two BORSTAR agents, a CBP Aviation Enforcement Officer and DPS paramedic repelled to the man, who was taken to a hospital.
