Up for Adoption

Published: Monday, April 20, 2009 7:42 PM MST

Kratos

If you’re wondering about his name, in Greek mythology Kratos (which means strength) was the son of Pallas and Styx (OK —so whoever heard of them?), and he was the personification of strength and power. Suffice it to say, Kratos’ dad named him that because of his strong personality, but he is gentle and tolerant, too.

Kratos lived with his single dad and his feline sister all his life, and after being at TALGV for a short while, he was adopted by a really nice couple.

He got along great with them, but the two cats that they already had didn’t like Kratos one bit.

Even though he decided that he couldn’t keep Kratos, his adoptive dad said some great things about Kratos: He loves toys and balls, is a very affectionate, is very chatty, and a serious lap cat! He said that Kratos is a sweet and loving cat that is playful and affectionate, but that older cats might be put off by his energy.

He is an 18-month-old, neutered, orange tabby and white guy with a very dashing orange mustache, so why don’t you come on down to TALGV and spend a little time with him? He’ll be able to charm your socks off in no time!

Einstein

With that name you’ve got to assume he has brains! And good looks and personality to match, too! Einstein was rescued along with two of his feline friends from the Pima Animal Care Center “just in time” as they say.

The lovely ladies who scooped them up knew that they were all going to make some lucky families the perfect companions, so they prevailed on TALGV to take them in.

Einstein is a handsome, long-haired, grey and white neutered (and microchipped) gentleman who is just 2 years old. He has a debonair grey moustache (with a bit of a squiggle on his nose) and wonderfully mesmerizing eyes to match.

No one knows what Einstein’s life was like before he came here, but you can bet that if you take him home to live with you, he’ll be the most loving, wonderfully warm companion you can imagine. He’ll always remember “those days” when his future was uncertain and thank you for making his dreams come true!

Tessie

She’s a sweet, rambunctious, approximately 3-month-old, red Chow/shepherd mix girl! Tessie was found by a great couple who kept her for almost a week. They already had a dog and a cat though (and everyone got along famously), but they didn’t feel that they were ready to add a new, bouncing baby girl to their family right now,

They said that Tessie “responds well to positive reinforcement training,” and that she loves “people interaction,” so you can bet with some time invested in her training, you’ll end up with a wonderfully loving companion for many years to come.

Remember though, puppies are a lot of work - but they’re all well worth the effort in the long run. If you have time, patience, and love, then you and Tessie will make beautiful music together!

Heidi

Heidi, her eight siblings (they’re called the “H Litter”!), and their mom, Honeydew, are wonderfully diverse heeler mixes (Heidi’s a brown and tan female with some brown under her eyes). Their mom was found by a family (mom, dad, three children -- ages 4, 6, and 7 -— and two other heelers — that was one big, active crowd) .

Shortly after taking her in, they discovered that she was expecting, so when her babies were born, they kept all of them until they were almost old enough for adoption and there was room here at TALGV.

Naturally you’re going to have to be patient with them as they’re just little whippersnappers right now and will need to learn doggie skills like house manners, obedience training, and the like - but they have those heeler “smart genes,” so teaching them the ropes will be a snap I’m sure!
